Debrief 3

I've been working non-stop all weekend. The trace it there, but it's blurred; our killer knows how to keep his/her identity anonymous. Any threats are killed and any witnesses are definitely killed. I gathered only the day before the accomplice's name and I traced it back to a school somewhere in the San Bernardino county. It's the earliest lead I have on Singing Zero. I plan on going to the school to interview several students. I don't expect much, but chances are the killer came into contact with the girl as either a teacher or fellow student.

Meantime, I had been digging deeper in the girl's past. And I've met a little speed bump. Everything beyond one year ago has been thoroughly disposed of. There are no traces of someone having tampered with it and any copy of her records have also been erased. I can't even get a birth date, names of the parents, past schools, nothing. I've effectively hit a wall in that department. Of course, someone obviously altered them. Wouldn't it be something if that person were working for Singing Zero? Or, better, if it were Singing Zero? That would mean he/she has access to police information. This has given me two useful hints:

This girl has definitely come into contact with our culprit and more than likely is the accomplice. Furthermore, our killer has no restrictions on police records, indicating that he/she comes from a family with parents or siblings in the police force. Yes... yes, that would make sense. In the past few weeks, there have been a number of police officers reported dead after finding a lead on the killer.

This in turn leads me to the more recent case where our officers were attacked after finding the killer's hideout. One survived, yet Singing Zero does not leave any witnesses. Does the officer not pose a threat, perhaps? Or could it even be Singing Zero in person?

This is all guess work at the moment. My only real lead is investigating the students of the accomplice's school. Thanksgiving break is coming upon us. I cannot waste any time.

Debrief 2

I ran into a colleague of mine yesterday who handles the case personally. He seemed determined; actually going out of his way to find me and relay this information to me.

The station received notice from a fallen officer a week or so before Halloween that perhaps the killer did not work alone.

The new anomaly astounded me. There were, of course, benefits to having an accomplice. Someone to shift the blame to and to command to do whatever the killer pleased without actually having his/her hands get dirty. I could not deny this was a brilliant move made by the enemy. It certainly put into question if our culprit really did commit these crimes in this vicinity, but rather having been pulling the strings to his/her puppet all along. It would explain the recent change in victims. For all we know, the puppet-master could be on the other side of the globe controlling its doll remotely.

There was, however, one slight detail that worried me: Why now? To what purpose could the killer have in controlling someone else to kill victims? Was it to alert us of message; that perhaps the killer had a growing number of supporters to use as an army? No. For the past year the killer has been murdering his/her victims alone, that much we can be sure of. This "doll", this new addition to the killer's arsenal of weapons can only mean one thing.

We are getting closer.

I deduced all of this the night before after I bid the colleague a farewell. It certainly is a triumphant feeling when one knows that the chase will soon be over. I will make my move soon. I can't wait to meet you.

Debrief 1

Hello, all. There has been an unusual increase in hype concerning this certain case I'm working on. We are no closer to catching this criminal than we were over a year ago, but we gathered some useful information along the way. My colleagues think differently, but it was enough for me to create this blog. Here are my deductions:

My current culprit has a flair for the theatrical. The culprit's killings are... how shall I put this delicately? Grotesque. The crime scenes, however, almost seem staged. As if our killer were painting a masterpiece of flesh and blood. Until several months ago, the data showed that these victims were killed at random; the killer did not seem to have a preference over whom was the victim. Things seemed to have changed starting around a month or two ago, most noticeably when policemen were nearby. Furthermore, these victims were only killed after coming into contact with a certain individual who, I can only assume, could possibly be revealed by these victims.

I concluded this: Our killer has started showing him/herself out in the open recently, explaining the sudden change in type of victim. Additionally, since our killer has quite an "artistic" nature, having it go unnoticed would mean the utmost insult. Therefore, the killer will attempt to reveal his/her motives and killings to the public, possibly under an anonymous name. I have checked every revenue of social networking: Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Tumblr, etc. This is the only one left I've yet to uncover. Hopefully I strike luck this time.

So there you have it. My entire year's worth of deduction in a nutshell. Currently, we have two officers decommissioned in the hospital after investigating the killer's hideout. One has been confirmed dead. If this continues, I may have to step in personally to contribute to this case.
